On Gear Live: 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Review

I have a feeling after last night’s great numbers, we’ll still be seeing Linus sitting in that pumpkin patch next year.  Although Tuesday lineup had the best demos, the classic Halloween special helped attract the largest audience.

8pm

  • Although it was slightly down from last week, (16.3 million, 3.3/9 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s largest audience. Great Pumpkin
  • It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (11.4 million, 3.8/11) easily outperformed the usual / numbers.
  • (8.9 million, 3.2/9) took a backseat to Snoopy.
  • (6.3 million, 2.8/7) and (5.8 million, 1.7/5) both declined from last week.
  • (2.3 million, 1.1/3) was down almost a million.

9pm

  • At 18.8 million, (4.3/10 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s largest audience.
  • (17.2 million, 7.0/17) still outperformed in the demos.
  • (2.8/7) came in third with 8.1 million viewers.
  • CW’s (2.5 million, 1.1/3) was about even with last week.

10pm

  • Thanks to a repeat on , (11.2 million, 3.0/8 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s best audience.
  • A repeat of (8.7 million, 3.0/8) still came in second.
  • Surprisingly, (8.1 million, 2.0/5) held on steady from last Tuesday.

Sabrina BryanAlthough has proven to be quite unpredictable this whole season, the person ultimately axed off each week usually saw the writing on the wall.  But tonight’s results show was probably the most anticipated to date; these final seven contestants really were the cream of the starting crop.  There had never been a score lower than 21 seen in this whole bunch—so who would be demoted to this week’s Bottom Two?  Would it be last night’s two lowest scorers, and ?

Not even close.

Tonight, and were given the unexpected jolts.  Cameron had really been coming into his own over the last few weeks, but where were his devoted fans tonight?  And Sabrina—there was never any doubt about her talent.  Heck, she was the first person in this season’s roster to even get a perfect score!

But as we have learned from to , it doesn’t matter if you’re a Cheetah Girl—it all comes down to the votes.

With the World Series finally wrapped up, ABC was able to waltz right in and dance away with another ratings victory:

8pm
Big Bang Theory

  • (14.1 million, 5.1/12) was impressive with the hour’s demos.
  • (11.2 million, 4.2/9) was up 400,000 from last Monday.
  • (10.4 million, 4.9/11) continues to send bored fans away; it lost another 250,000.
  • A repeat of (1.3/3) took in 4 million.
  • Both (2.24 million, 1.0/2) and (2.4 million, 1.1/3) remained even.

Tonight the competitors had to perform two dances:  a style they’ve never performed before and a group dance number.  Read on to see how they fared:

SABRINA BRYAN (partner Mark Ballas)
(Dance: Foxtrot/ Song: ‘I’m a Woman’)
I think her hair’s been needing this updo; it brings a new level of maturity to her look.  Although I believe she’s had a couple of missteps, she’s doing quite well.  Her arms and lines look great and she’s really covering the floor.  Although Len thought her performance was excellent, he felt she still needed a bit more contrast throughout her dance.  He said it was too powerful.  Bruno said she still needed to work on finessing her dance.  He also noticed that her foot got caught.  Carrie Ann disagreed with the two other men; she thought the dance was feisty and smooth.  Score: 9/8/8 (25)

JENNIE GARTH (partner Derek Hough)
(Dance: Mambo/ Song: ‘Mambo Baby’)
She almost looks like a Chiquita girl; she’s very fun and flirty tonight.  And I love all those tricks she and Derek have choregraphed into their dance!  Bruno said she brought steam and heat to the floor.  Carrie Ann thought she finally unveiled herself tonight and let it all hang out.  Len said it was an exceptional performance.  Score: 9/9/9 (27)

With baseball out of the picture, Hugh Laurie was free to reclaim his reign over Wednesday night’s ratings.

8pm

  • At 17.1 million, (3.7/10 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s best audience and demo performance. Cane
  • (3.1/9) came in 2nd with 8.8 million viewers.
  • (6.9 million, 3.2/9) was up from last week; (6.8 million, 2.3/7) did better than last week’s Dateline special.
  • Both (6.9 million, 2.2/6) and (7.1 million, 2.4/6) were about even from one week ago.
  • (3.2 million, 1.6/4) was slightly down.

9pm

  • (17.9 million, 7.6/18 in 18-49 demo) had the night’s largest numbers in both categories.
  • (17.8 million, 4.4/11) came in a close 2nd with viewers.
  • (10.9 million, 3.0/7) was down from last week as was (2.6 million, 1.2/3).

10pm

  • (12.2 million, 4.7/13 in 18-49 demo) easily dominated the 10pm hour.
  • A special episode of (2.8/8) drew in 10.9 million.
  • CBS’s (8 million, 2.0/5) dropped another 500,000.

Mark CubanAfter weeks of occupying the low scorer’s bench, the Dallas Maverick’s owner was finally ejected from the dance floor tonight.  As entertaining as had been (especially in his ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ performance last night), his abilities were clearly lagging behind those of the remaining competitors.  Fortunately, Cuban didn’t overstay his welcome and make things equally as awkward as last night’s show-stopper.

But who had the honor of warming the seat next to him?  Was it wobbly Marie?  Last week’s near-miss, Mel B?  Or how about Helio, the dancer with the pained expression?  No—it was Monday’s sexy siren, .  Although she scored higher than Garth, Osmond or Castroneves, Jane’s hot rumba apparently didn’t do much for the viewers at home.  (Maybe voters don’t like rooting for someone who’s all skin and bones.)

So now we’re down to the Final Seven:  Jane, Melanie, Jennie, Marie, Sabrina, Helio and Cameron.  All the obvious contenders have already been eliminated—so who do you think will occupy the Bottom Two next week?

Thanks to a baseball-less Monday on FOX (and a startling collapse on Dancing With the Stars), ABC easily took last night’s win.

8pm
Journeyman

9pm

  • In its second week, ? (14.3 million, 4.6/10 in 18-49) remained strong compared to last week’s debut.
  • Both (13.7 million, 4.8/11) and (10.8 million, 3.9/9) scored larger audiences than that NBC show.
  • (10.7 million, 4.9/11), down another 560,000, barely eked out the hour’s largest demo (not including Dancing).
  • (6.1 million, 2.0/5) remained about even.

It was Latin night on this week, and as Tom Bergeron joked—there was very little fabric to be seen.  Tonight the competitors had to perform either a sizzling Samba or a romantic Rumba.  Read on to see how they fared:

MARIE OSMOND (partner Jonathan Roberts)
(Dance: Samba/ Song: ‘Crickets Sing for Anamaria’)
She looks like Charo in her short blue dress tonight (and that’s not a good thing).  She’s also dancing very tentatively and looking weirdly off.  NOTE:  Anticipating Marie’s fall (read here for the details), I never really heard what Len said (though he never really got to finish before the collapse anyway).  Score: 7/7/7 (21)

JANE SEYMOUR (partner Tony Dovolani)
(Dance: Rumba/ Song: ‘Breathe Again’)
It’s amazing how she can go from classy to sexy in just one week.  And what a hot, red dress!  Bruno complimented her lovely lines and shape.  He even said she even looked like Edyta at times.  Carrie Ann said Jane had a problem spotting her turns.  Len said she brought romance and class to the floor.  Score: 8/9/9 (26)

Marie OsmondIn tonight’s East Coast version of , the viewers at home and in the ballroom witnessed a shocking moment.  After performing her samba with partner Jonathan Roberts, competitor fainted in front of a live audience.  Later explaining that this sometimes happens when she gets winded, Osmond fell onto the floor while standing before the judges (luckily, Roberts was there to help break her fall).

The show immediately went to a commercial break while Marie was attended to by medics.  Assuring them that she was fine, she and Jonathan later re-emerged to receive their final scores.  (Read our later post about DWTS to get a breakdown of all the performances).  It’s unclear at this time whether the West Coast broadcast will air the literal show-stopping moment.

Jennifer LopezAccording to E! Online, another performer has had to make a last minute schedule change.  , who was to pretape a performance on Tuesday, had to step up her plans due to a ‘family emergency’.  Instead of forcing the producers to find new talent, Lopez apparently recorded her song tonight.

This would be the second Tuesday in a row the DTWS results show had a singer deal with a family issue.  Gloria Estefan canceled her performance last week because her mother suffered an intestinal rupture.  Two weeks before that, Jane Seymour was absent due to the death of her mother.  No further details were given regarding Jennifer Lopez’s situation.
